Robert Perl, Psy.D.

Dr. Perl trained at the California Pacific Medical Center, Department of Psychiatry, where he served as Chief Intern in the Outpatient Mental Health Clinic. In addition to teaching, supervising, and private practice, his work includes a staff psychologist position at Alta Bates Summit Medical Center providing crisis intake and inpatient assessment, and work as a school psychologist for the Kentfield School District in Marin County. Dr. Perl also serves on the Boards of Directors of the California Psychology Internship Council (CAPIC) and the Alameda County Psychological Association (ACPA).

In his private practice, Dr. Perl works with adults and adolescents presenting with mood and personality disorders, relationship difficulties, as well as work, school and career related issues. Dr. Perl's interests also include assessment, time-limited psychotherapy and crisis intervention, standards and quality assurance in clinical training, and the application of psychoanalytic theory to popular culture, art, aesthetics and the creative process.

As the Wright Institute's Internship Advisor, Dr. Perl draws upon his interests in psychology education, clinical training, and professional development. Through a series of workshops, meetings and one-on-one guidance, Dr. Perl works with Wright Institute students to plan their clinical training sequence, prepare them in the internship application process, and help them to develop career goals. Each year, Dr. Perl assists students in successfully navigating the internship application and selection process.
