Find Dissertations

The Library holds a complete collection of bound dissertations and dissertation proposals by Wright Institute graduates.  These are located in the computer room on the second floor, and can be checked out for two weeks.

Students and faculty also have online access to ProQuest’s Dissertations & Theses Database (formerly Digital Dissertations), which features citations from as far back as 1861, 350-word abstracts for all dissertations since 1980, and the full-text of all dissertations added since 1997, in PDF format.

This database offers free, full-text downloads of most doctoral dissertations in psychology and related fields since 1997, and in some cases earlier.

Using ProQuest Dissertations & Theses

Connect to ProQuest Dissertations & Theses – Full Text.

This database is searchable on the ProQuest platform and is, by default, set up to simultaneously search the Dissertations & Theses database, along with ProQuest’s Psychology Journals collection and APA’s PsycARTICLES collection.  To search dissertations alone, find the database pulldown menu (just beneath the search box) and select “Interdisciplinary—Databases and Theses”.

Using the advanced search tab, you can search over a dozen fields, including author, subject, school or abstract.

Search results are displayed in reverse chronological order.  For most dissertations added in the past ten years, your options will include:

  • Abstract – View a 350-word author-written abstract
  • 24 Page Preview – View the first 24 pages of the dissertation
  • Page Image – PDF – Download the entire dissertation
