The Wright Institute will be hosting five pre-licensure workshops this year. These workshops will cover the State Psychology Board's training requirements in Chemical Dependency, Child Abuse Reporting, Human Sexuality, Spousal/Partner Abuse, and Aging and Long Term Care. Below you will find information regarding the three workshops that have already been scheduled. When the remaining two workshops are scheduled we will notify you. The pre-licensure workshops may be taken either before or after sitting for the state licensure exam, but they must be completed in order for you to be officially licensed in the state of California.
The Chemical Dependency workshop will take place over two days--Saturday, March 15 from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. and will continue on Sunday, March 16 from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. This workshop will be taught by Dan Alterman, Ph.D. The fee for this 15-hour workshop is $130 for Wright Institute students and alumni and $230 for non-Wright affiliated participants. Completion of this workshop is documented by a transcript from the Wright Institute. After completion of the workshop please send a written request (including your name) and a $3 transcript fee to the registrar's office and an official transcript will be sent to the State Board.
The Child Abuse Reporting workshop will be taught by Daniel Taube, Ph.D, J.D. on Saturday, June 7. It will begin at 9:00 a.m. and last until 5:30 p.m. The cost for this 7-hour workshop is $60 for Wright Institute students and alumni and $160 for non-Wright affiliated participants. Following the workshop all participants will be mailed a certificate of completion, which must then be sent to the State Board to receive credit.
The Human Sexuality workshop will be held Friday, June 13 and Saturday, June 14. It will last from 6 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on Friday evening and will continue from 9:00 a.m. until 5:30 p.m. on Saturday. The instructor for this workshop is Bryna Barsky-ex, Ph.D., a licensed clinical psychologist and sex therapist. The fee for this 10-hour workshop is $85 for Wright Institute students and alumni and $185 for non-Wright affiliated attendees. Following the workshop all participants will be mailed a certificate of completion, which must then be sent to the State Board to receive credit.
All workshops will take place at the Wright Institute. These workshops are designed to meet the State Board's licensing requirements; therefore they must begin exactly on time and 100% classroom attendance is required for the entire length of the workshop. Late arrivals (even by a few minutes) will not be granted credit--we cannot make any exceptions to this rule. Please plan your arrival so you will have ample time to register and sit down before the starting time of the workshop. Please note that there is no parking available on the Wright Institute's premises for workshop attendees and street parking is often very limited. Please consider this as you make your travel plans. For more information about parking and for directions see our website (www.wrightinst.edu) under the Visiting Wright link. The Wright Institute will serve light refreshments in the morning and afternoon during the workshops; however lunch will not be provided.
If you are interested in attending any of these workshops please register by sending advanced payment in the form of a check along with the completed enclosed form to: Licensure Workshops, The Wright Institute, 2728 Durant Avenue, Berkeley, CA 94704.
